I think we are all looking forward to 2021 already. 2020 has been quite the ride, and we’re not done yet! For this blog entry I thought I would look ahead to something fun, the Pantone Colour of The Year for 2021 A.I. Aqua.

Turquoise is my favourite colour, so seeing this literally made me clap my hands like a trained seal ?. This aqua shade is going to be HOT according to top industry trend forecasters, and it’s easy to see why

With warm greys being the new hot neutral, and golds, bronzes and brass the metals of choice, this colour, A.I. Aqua will be right in place as an accent or the star of the show.

Remembering our colour theory, good colours to pair with this shade would be oranges, including rust, coral and tangerine, as they are complimentary. I think this would be an amazing shade to play with mixing patterns too.

What styles would suit this colour? It would be amazing in a Coastal room. I would also suit a Modern abode, or would not be out of place accenting a Transitional space.

The first vignette we created is more like a mini vignette, as it really centres upon just one furniture piece, this fun Occasional Chair. This nature-inspired set up may not predominantly feature A.I. Aqua, but this colour is within the foliage pattern on the chair. We have also brought in in with one of the accessories on the side table. To accent this colour, we have tied in bronze metallics, as well as many shades of orange. With the unifying nature theme and using colour theory, we were able to create a cohesive and fun set-up for this chair.

As mentioned above, A.I. Aqua is a relaxing shade, making it perfect for bringing it into your bedroom. For this vignette, we stuck with colours featured in this bedding set, turquoises and teals. Since the bedroom is where you are supposed to relax, we didn’t feel it necessary to pull in other accent colours. We also wanted this beautiful bedroom set and the bedding to be the feature.

For our last vignette, we wanted to create an entirely different feel than the other two. This grouping has more of a rustic transitional feel. Using this stunning, neutral brown leather sectional as a base, we brought in A.I. Aqua, as well as accent colour orange, with toss cushions. The two patterned toss cushions incorporate both the colour of the year and its accent. We have also brought in these colours with artwork and lamps.
