Area Rugs
The perfect area rug can help pull a whole room together, as well as add warmth, dimension and character to a space.
But finding the perfect area rug isn’t always easy. Just like taste in furniture aesthetics, your taste may be different than others.
There are also many other factors that go into finding the perfect rug, such as colour, shape and size.
Just because an area rug goes with furniture you are putting it with, it doesn’t mean it enhances the space.
To show you what we mean, we have taken the same sofa and shown it without a rug, with the imperfect rug, and with the right rug
Without a Rug
While there are some instances where you don’t need an area rug, there are instances, such as this, where the lack of a rug leaves the space feeling bland and sparse. There is a lack of warmth and coziness to this space that an area rug could provide.
The Imperfect Rug
There isn’t really anything wrong with this pairing. The sofa and the rug match and the rug is the right shape and size for the space.
Although this rug works with the sofa and the space, it doesn’t add much to it. Yes, this rug adds an element of warmth and coziness that was lacking in the first photo, but overall, this space is still pretty bland.
There is hardly any variation in colour, with primarily light beiges and creams. It still feels like there is something missing, or lacking from this space.
The Right Rug
Unlike the previous two photos, this area rugs not only gives the space a sense of warmth and coziness, but it also brings some life to this space.
Along with the area rug colours pairing well with the sofa, the texture and variation of colours adds dimension and interest to the space. This rug was also a great inspiration to base our accessories on.
We were able to add some additional toss cushions and a vase that pulled colours from the rug and helped create a cohesive and welcoming aesthetic.
This rug is a statement piece, and although not all the rugs you pair with furniture need to be, adding a statement rug to this all beige couch is the perfect way to infuse some personality and life into this space.
